Skin Care
Moisturisers can be applied if the Skinny suffers from dry skin, once every week will be sufficient but some may require more or less than others. Do not use a moisturiser that is perfumed or greasy, this could cause irritation of the skin. I would recommend something like Aqueous Cream or Pure Aloe Vera Gel, would be good because they should get no reaction from these. If they do I would immediately wash the Skinny and try something else. A reaction would be itching, flakey skin, sores in the creases of the wrinkles.
Bathing
Bathing is required more that the usual hairy pigs, I would recommend this is done every 2-3 months, more if required. Make sure the water is too cold or too hot; wash using a specialist Guinea Pig Shampoo, I would recommend Gorgeous Guineas Mini Pig Shampoo its mild enough for baby Guinea Pigs so it will be great for any Skinny. Once nice and clean make sure your Skinny Pig is thoroughly patted dry(not rubbed so no pain or irration is caused) because this also can cause problems with the skin such as bacterial infections.
Temperature
Skinnys need to be warm, obviously they could not live outside in a shed or garage unless it was constantly heated, above 10 C but between 15 C and 25 C will be sufficient; they like to keep warm, just like we do. Never let them become too hot because they could suffer from heat stroke or too cold because they could suffer from pneumonia. They are very sensitive to a sudden change in heat. A Skinny will let you know if they are too cold because they will become extra wrinkley and huddle up.
